All fencers are reminded that the Annual General Meeting is to be held on Thursday, 11 December at 7:00 pm at the Fencing Factory. Your attendance and vote is important to help shape your association and to select various positions both executive and non-executive.
The following people have nominated as members of the Fencing Victoria Executive:
Caryl Oliver
Caryl first started Fencing 44 years ago and has competed almost to Olympic Level. She has been involved in the administration of Associations, organised competitions up to and including World Championships, managed teams and represented Australia at the FIE. Caryl has extensive business skills from running her own tourism business for 18 years and significant experience in governance - in sporting and educational fields, She is a regular keynote speaker and presenter on living with and using technology
Caryl hopes to add value to the executive of Fencing Victoria through her awareness and understanding of some of the history behind the organisation and by the clarity that an extended absence can provide. She takes a very practical approach to issues and seeks to negotiate solutions that benefit all parties as much as possible. After almost 18 years away from fencing Caryl has returned because she loves the sport and has thoroughly enjoyed the past year as a competitor; while she intends to continue to focus on competing she advocates taking responsibility for our sport, both today and for tomorrow and is correspondingly willing to consider some extra tasks if this is required.
Caryl looks forward to the possibility of working with those who have already been making this commitment.

Geoff Webber
Geoff Webber first trained in Foil under Vivienne Watts in Sydney too long ago to remember (was it really 25 years?) via a 10 week series of lessons and then didn't touch a weapon for many years. He returned to the sport with his son, Lucas, in March 2007. Since then, he has been active in local Foil competitions and a member of the Blacklords Fencing Club.
In August 2008, Geoff became a Director of the Fencing Victoria Executive, assisting in the operation of the Fencing Victoria website. Also, he acted as the FV representative in the recent Member Survey into FV Competitions.
Geoff is keenly interested in all levels of activity from U13 through to Veterans through personal and paternal involvement. Geoff brings the interest of the Juniors and the perspective of the older Fencing Novice to the Executive and seeks to be re-endorsed for 2009.
If re-elected, Geoff will continue to maintain the FV website and work on the Executive and with the Competitions arm to implement some of the recommendations highlighted in the survey. Working with the Finance arm to better maintain Affiliation and Eligibility records for all competing fencers will also be a key task.
