Fencing Victoria Executive Positions: Further Information and Call for Nominations
The Executive of Fencing Victoria is responsible for both the strategic direction of the Association and its operational management (i.e. no CEO or other General Manager is employed). Consequently there is a substantial amount of administrative work involved in each Directorship. Directors volunteer their time and skills for the good of the Association and for fencing within the State. Further to this, it is essential that Directors are guided by the following principles:
- Trust
- Honesty
- Care
- Responsibility
- Accountability
- Transparency
- Effectiveness
In addition, Directors are bound by a number of duties, imposed by the Association and the Incorporation of Associations Act:
- Duty to act in the best interests of the organisation
- Duty to bring an independent mind to decisions
- Duty to exercise care and diligence
- Duty not to improperly use position
- Duty not to improperly use information
- Disclosure of material interests.
A broad range of skills is required on the Executive, including financial, legal, communications, IT and general management skills. All individuals with skills and time to offer and a desire to contribute to the development of fencing within Victoria are strongly encouraged to nominate for an executive or officer position.
Nominations of candidates for election as Officers or Executive of Fencing Victoria Incorporated must be made in writing, signed by two voting members of Fencing Victoria Incorporated and by the nominee in evidence that they are willing and able to accept the duties and responsibilities of the office, and shall be sent to:
