State Fencing Centre Manager (SFCM)
The SFCM role has four major components. Most are significantly easier if the SFCM is frequently present at the State Fencing Center (SFC). They should also build a relationship with the staff of the NMRC.
1) Enforcement of SFC rules
Become familiar with the SFC ‘Piste Policy’ and booking regulations. Refer any issues that cannot be solved to the Operations Manager.
You may be required to -
- Warn coaches/fencers who are using un-booked strips or unpaid for lockers
- Warn coaches/fencers who are acting in an unsafe manner
In the above cases a warning is usually sufficient, however if further actions is required you may be required to
- Expel coaches/fencers who refuse to pay or book strips
- Ask the Operations Manager for advice/establish rules, when situations are unclear so that procedures can be reviewed.
Note: Rules are not decided by the SFCM or the Operations Manager, they are decided by the FV Executive. The SFCM merely enforces them and makes recommendations to the Operations Manager.
2) Maintenance and cleaning of SFC.
- Ensure all pistes are in working order. Replace faulty equipment and organise for repairs to be done.
- Trash and recycling to be emptied as needed
- All machines, A/C, fans, and lights are off at end of night, and that the place is locked down. (Coaches who regularly use the center should know to do this if SFCM is not present)
- Booking a cleaner for the Centre as necessary - usually once a month (this has been done through airtasker.) Sweeping the centre at least once a week.
- Ensuing that the lines on the pistes are kept clear and bright – this will mean redoing the lines after a cleaner has been in.
- Keep FV Office clean.
- Replenish medical/First Aid kit(s) as necessary.
- Do a yearly stocktake of the Centre’s equipment
- Identify and warn people who are routinely responsible for messes that they may be banned from using the SFC.
3) Delivery of Goods to the SFC
- Organise for the receipt of goods that are delivered to the SFC – this may mean signing for packages or organising for NMRC employees to sign for goods on your behalf.
4) Co-Ordinate Set-up and Pack-up of Centre when AFC Tournaments are held in Victoria
- Become familiar with the set-up and pack-up procedure for the SFC when National Tournaments are held there.
- Co-ordinate and help the volunteers. Ensure everything is set-up properly and on time and then packed away when the tournament is over.
The SFCM will report to the Operations Manager
The position pays $25.00 per hour. Hours required per week will vary, but the position usually only requires 2 - 3 hours of work per week – more when there is a National Tournament and when a stocktake needs to be done.
