Australian Youth Olympic Festival (AYOF) Fencing has been included in the program for the 2009 AYOF to be held in Sydney from 14th to 18th January.
Australia will be one of seven nations competing in only Men's and Women's Epee events - both team and individual. Australia has the opportunity to field two teams in both the Men's and Women's Epee, so there is therefore the opportunity for a total of 6 junior men and 6 junior women to be selected for these events.
Commonwealth Junior Championships The Commonwealth Fencing Federation has recently confirmed that Malaysia will host the 2009 Commonwealth Junior Fencing Championships in Penang from 16th to 21st February.
Australia is eligible to nominate a total of four junior fencers in each of the men's and women's events for foil, epee and sabre.
Nomination & Selection Nomination forms for both athletes and officials the Australia Team for these two international events will be circulated in the near future with nominations expected to close on 5th October 2008. Selection of athletes for these events will be in accordance with the current AFF Selection Policy available from the AFF website. The AFF Executive will determine the number and select officials for these teams.
