We have two fencers going to Beijing; Amber Parkinson (Epee) and Jo Halls (Foil), both Victorians.
Australian Olympians in general, and specifically fencers, are largely unfunded by the Australian and Victorian governments when it comes to the lead-up to the Olympics. Both of our Olympic fencers are now undertaking a series of overseas competitions both as training and so that their pre-Olympics rankings are as high as possible. Costs for these trips must be paid for out of the fencer's own funds.
You can help.
We have placed a number of online transaction types ("Road to Beijing") on the Fencing Victoria transaction web site where you can contribute to our fencers' costs in reaching the Games. If you wish to contribute more than the amounts shown, please send an email to finance@fencingvictoria.org. We will be publishing a list of financial supporters, but if you wish your contributions to remain anonymous, then please use the use login code of '12597543', password 'beijing'.
Every contribution helps, and Fencing Victoria will be passing all contributed funds directly on to the two athletes.
