The Premier's Active Families Challenge is a new 'Go for your life' initiative that aims to improve the levels of physical activity as well as the overall health and wellbeing of families. Families can complete the Challenge by doing at least 30 minutes of physical activity a day for 30 days between 9 March and 20 April 2008. You can do the activity on your own or as a family.
As a registered participant you'll receive 15 free family passes at your local YMCA and a 10% discount at Rebel Sport stores, as well as the chance to win some fantastic prizes. Every primary school nominated by a student who completes the Challenge will go in the draw to win one of eight $3,000 sports packs available.
Once you register you will be kept up-to-date with information, tips and ideas in the weekly Challenge eBulletin.
To participate, register online at
Go For Your Life or phone 1300 73 98 99 then collect your free Challenge booklet in the Herald Sun on Tuesday 4 March.
The Herald Sun free Challenge booklet includes a diary to help keep track of your family's activity during the Challenge.
By making some simple changes in our day, such as walking to school or work, or taking the kids for a ride around the local park, we can make some big changes in our general health and wellbeing. Research also shows the involvement of parents in physical activity can increase their child's participation levels.
