There is an issue at the State Fencing Centre where the left hand side of the hall is limited in space and does not allow the placement of the blue barriers to define the field of play. Because of this, the field of play on that side extends to the southern wall. The right hand side boundary is defined by the blue barriers. It is understood that the fencer may wish to have support at their end of the piste and this is allowed under the condition that only one person per fencer currently engaged in a bout is present. More than 2 people (fencer plus one other) at the end of the piste interferes with the fencer's ability to move freely, has potential for safety concerns and is simple over-crowding in a confined space.
*Please note the following, which is effective immediately for all competitions.
"During the fencing competition, only the fencers competing in the current match are allowed inside the field of play. One other person per fencer currently competing may also be positioned inside the field of play at the respective end of the piste. This person can be the fencer's coach or any person requested by the fencer. Should the referee or any member of the DT request that people in excess of the fencer plus one other vacate the field of play, this must be complied with immediately. Failure to do so is an offence under the 3rd Group of offences "Any person not on piste disturbing good order. In the most serious cases, the Referee may award a black card immediately (t.118.4)"
