As a result of the resignation from the AFF Executive by Mr Peter Creese, the Executive now invites nominations from members to fill this position.
The AFF encourages nominations from those willing to act for the good of our sport, and whose skill and experience will materially complement the resources that currently exist within the AFF Executive. The Executive seeks to increase diversity within its Directorship, while recognising that narrowly focused interest group representation is less desirable than a whole-of-sport perspective.
The position of AFF Director involves occasional travel, high levels of confidentiality and professionalism, a deep understanding of the perspectives of many aspects of our fencing community, and the ability to balance the needs of our full agenda against the reality of comparatively minimal funding and the use of volunteer resources. The Executive works on a portfolio-based responsibility model (see here), and executes the strategies mandated by its Member States at Annual General Meetings. While often a rewarding role, Directors however must be prepared to recognise differing opinions on decisions made in the context of difficult priority assessments. Work can be sporadically significant and time-sensitive, and all Directors also hold roles as Chairs of various Commissions.
The Directors meet in person 5-6 times per year for weekend meetings, and via teleconferencing monthly.
Nominees must be fully affiliated with a State Association. Nominations must be in writing signed by a delegate or the secretary of a State Association and by the nominee and must be submitted by Sunday 30 November to secretary@fencing.org.au This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . A pro forma is attached below to assist potential nominees.
Following the close of nominations, all nominations will be forwarded to delegates who will then cast their vote by Mail Ballot by Tuesday 30 December.
