The seminar will be held at the State Fencing Centre on the 2nd March, 10.00am - 12.00 noon, followed by question time.
This seminar covers the content of the recent FIE Olympic Solidarity Refereeing course held in Canberra. Subjects covered include:
- FIE rule changes coming into effect in 2014
- Clarification of covering target (becoming stricter with a change in the wording of the FIE definition)
- FIE explanation of priority (Foil and Sabre), plus discussion of general shift in refereeing internationally, as presented by Stephen Darragh AFF.
- Attacks on the blade and priority
- Penalties and refereeing
- Directing a bout; Refereeing best practices. Responsibilities and rights.
This seminar is open to referees, coaches, fencers and parents. There will be an hour at the end of the presentation for extra questions on the topics presented and further discussion.
Note:
Attendance at this seminar will be worth 2 professional development points (updating) for coaches.
