The National Junior (Under-20) Championships will be held in Perth from 3rd to 6th October, 2013 (weapons check will be available on Wednesday 2nd October 5.00pm - 7.00pm). Details about the tournament can be found on the AFF web site - http://www.ausfencing.org/home/
To nominate for entry you will need to use the 'Register Now' option on the AFF Website ( https://www.registernow.com.au/secure/Register.aspx?ID=10091 ) - Fencing Victoria no longer collects entries into National competitions. The Team Management Fee does, however, need to be paid through the Fencing Victoria Portal. All fencers are required to have a 2013 full affiliation with Fencing Victoria. Nominations will be accepted from any eligible competitor who does not have a debt outstanding to Fencing Victoria.
Nominations are open until the 18th September, after which they will be deemed "late entries", and will attract additional cost.
All nominated competitors will be eligible to be selected to represent Victoria in the team events. There will be team events for all weapons (both men and women). The team selection process is found under the Juniors part of this web site (click here).
The costs for this event are as follows:
- Nomination for entry (per event): $120 (paid through Register Now on the AFF Website) $75 for entry into 3rd Event.
- Team management fee (per competitor): $100 (paid through the FV Transaction Portal)
(* The Team Management Fee has been lowered this year from $160 to $100 due to the great fundraising efforts by a group of Volunteers run by Victoria Fitzgerald, Angela Webber and Lorraine Foster. This group along with other volunteers have been raising funds to offset the Team Management Fees by running a canteen at Fencing Events held in Melbourne.)
All competitors must download the U20 Team Member Agreement Form below and return it to communications@fencingvictoria.org by the 27th September. If a fencer has not returned their agreement prior to competition they will not be able to fence.
Also assisting the team will be a Fencing Victoria appointed Team Coach and Team Manager. This is a National competition constituted by State Teams (i.e. not Club teams). Fencers are there to represent their State not themselves or their club. Parents, club coaches and officials are most welcome but have no official capacity at National Events, and the Australian Fencing Federation will not directly communicate with them.
Note that conductive bibs are required for all National foil competitions. There will be a limited selection of gear will be available for purchase at the venue.
If you need more information, please email competitions@fencingvictoria.org.
