The Department of Sport and Recreation Victoria, have just informed us that the current funding round of the Elite Athlete Travel Grants Program closes on 15 August.
Applications are accepted at any time before an athlete travels. All applications are then batched together at the next closing date and assessed competitively - closing date is 15th August.
All eligible applications are prioritised on the basis of rankings provided by State Sporting Associations, and the type of event that the athlete is seeking funding to travel to. A survey conducted in June by the Department of Sports and Recreation, has helped them to establish a priority for events as follows -
1. Open Age World Championship
2. Junior World Championship
3. Open Age National Championship
Open Age International Event (can be within Australia or
overseas)
4. Junior National Championship
Junior International Event (can be within Australia or overseas)
5. Masters World Championship
Masters National Championship
Masters International Event (can be within Australia or overseas).
Eligible applicants that were unsuccessful in the previous round are able to reapply for upcoming events.
