Fencing Victoria is supporting a Level 0 Coaching Course. Commencing April 10th. Other dates to be arranged during School Holidays with the course to finish by end of 2016.
This coaching course is subsidised by a grant received by Whitehorse Chevaliers Fencing Club. Clubs are encouraged to send their junior fencers to this course to assist with schools coaching or club development.
This course is for:
Fencers who wish to teach/coach in their club or school. You will learn how to teach groups basic to intermediate skills in fencing and the terminology related to fencing;
Fencers (with 2 or more years of experience) who wish to consolidate their fencing skills and expand their knowledge of fencing;
Coaches wishing to update their skills and gain valuable practise and feedback.
Course requirements:
Participants must be members of Fencing Victoria.
Participants will need to have fenced for a minimum of two years.
Course details:
The course fee is $95 (inc GST), which includes hand outs, use of facilities during the course and a qualified presenter. You will need to complete a (coaching) General Principles course. You can do this on the Ausport website here. The General Principles course is a requirement for accreditation via the National Coach Accreditation Scheme, and there is no cost for this course.
Those participants who complete their coaching qualification will be accredited at Level 0 in their weapon of choice upon being assessed, as competent, in all coaching skills. Successful candidates will be listed as a LEvel 0 Coach on the AFF Coaches list, will need to pay an accreditation fee of $26 to the Australian Fencing Federation.
Attendance at all sessions for those wishing to complete their coaching qualification is highly recommended. The course runs from 9am to 4pm each day, with an hour allocated for lunch.
