The winning school in the U20 Foil event will earn the right to represent their school (and state) at the AFF National Schools Teams Competition that precedes the AFF National U20's in October.

As this is a Schools competition, the following structure will apply
- Competitors will be enrolled in either primary or secondary school
- Teams will be comprised of single-school group (mixed Primary and Secondary OK)
- Teams may be mixed.
If three or more entries of each gender
are received, the event will be split by gender. Otherwise, teams will
fence each other, mixed or single-sex
- At least three teams must enter each event for that event to proceed.
The format of events will depend on the number of teams entered when entries close on Thursday, Feb 25.
If 3, 4 or 5 teams enter for one competition, there will be one poule, with placings decided at the conclusion of the poule.
If there are 6 or more teams entered in one competition, there will be 2 poules
The winner of the competition will be decided by playing the winner of poule 1 vs. winner of poule 2.
The Bronze position will be decided by playing the 2nd rank team in each poule against each other.
