Lockleys Football Club History
The Lockleys Football Club is an incorporated association affiliated with the South Australian Amateur Football League (for seniors) and with the Metro South Junior Football League (for juniors).
The Lockleys Football Club was formed in 1951 through the efforts of A.F.Kemp amongst others. Led by long-serving administrators such as Bruce Geddes and Reg Clarke, the Club joined the Glenelg-South Association and won premierships in 1965, 1974 and 1978, then amalgamated with Torrensville United in 1979, retaining the name Lockleys and winning a further premiership in 1982. Glenelg South became Southern Metropolitan, and a year before that association disbanded the Club joined the SAAFL. For a few years it competed in the A5 finals without gainingpromotion until in 1992 long-serving coach Paul Howlett moved into the President's chair and appointed Nick Genovese as coach, a move which saw the Club win successive premierships. The Club record holder forgames played is K White with 432 games between 1963 and 1987.
