THE Southern Tigers’ winning streak sits at three games after recording an impressive 19-point victory over Woodville at home on Anzac Day.

Led by Anthony Drmic (25 points and nine rebounds) and import Michael Nwelue (17 points and 14 rebounds) the Tigers started strongly and controlled the game throughout.

The defending champions raced to a nine-point lead at quarter-time and extended the margin to 15 by half-time on the back of an impressive shooting display.

Southern made 35 of 65 shots from the field (52 per cent), including 10 of 24 (41 per cent) from three-point range.

The Warriors were simply unable to match them, shooting at 37 per cent from the field and having 10 less attempts from the free-throw line.

The Tigers led by as much as 26 points and looked capable of producing a blow-out win before Woodville showed some grit in the second half.

The Warriors outscored Southern 27-26 in the final period, but by that stage the damage had been done.

Drmic’s 25 points included a perfect 7-of-7 on two-point attempts.

The Tigers’ bench also had an impact with Andrew Barton scoring 15 points in 15 minutes of court time.

For Woodville, Christopher Clausen led the way with 27 points, four rebounds and four assists.

Darren Ng and James Peters (both 10 points) were the only other Warriors in double figures.

Southern faces West Adelaide at Morphett Vale this Saturday night while the Warriors will chase their second win of the season against Norwood at St Clair.
