Round 4 Previews

MEN

Southern Tigers (2-1) v Woodville Warriors (1-2)

In the Match of the Round, the Warriors will be hoping that their season of home court disadvantage can continue for another round, when they visit the Tigers at Morphett Vale.

Following their defeat to South (Luke Stanbridge 18 points) in Round 3, the Warriors are 0-2 at home, but 1-0 away. Perhaps another road trip is just what they need?

The Tigers have recovered nicely from their season-opening defeat to Sturt, with ensuing back-to-back victories. In just 28 minutes, Anthony Drmic put up 30 points in a 114-87 win over Centrals.

The Tigers swept the Warriors 2-0 last season.

North Adelaide Rockets (2-1) v Eastern Mavericks (0-3)

The Rockets will attempt to bounce back from their first loss of 2017, when they welcome the Mavericks to Hillcrest.

In Round 3, with Alexander Starling out, Aric Miller dropped a game-high 36 points, but it was not enough to prevent a loss of 13 points to Sturt.

With yet another big home loss to Forestville (Lachlan Barker 20 points), the Mavericks are stuck at the bottom of the ladder again.

Last season’s series between the Rockets and Mavericks finished as a 1-1 tie.

The Bearcats will be trying to avoid a third consecutive defeat, when they host the Sabres at Port Adelaide.

Despite 30 points from David Oldham, the Bearcats were the highest scoring losing side in Round 3, going down to Norwood by seven. This will be the third consecutive fixture against a 2016 finals team for the Bearcats.

Isaac White led a well-balanced attack with 18 points, as the Sabres bounced back from their Round 2 shellacking to Forestville with a triumphant 77-64 effort against North.

The Bearcats, despite finishing lower than the Sabres on the ladder, comfortably swept last season’s series 2-0.

Norwood Flames (1-2) v South Adelaide Panthers (2-1)

The Flames will be looking to make it two victories at their new home in the space of four days, when they greet the Panthers at Campbelltown.

After a 0-2 start, the Flames got on the board in Round 3, overcoming West 95-88. With star Matthew Lycett and fellow import Ahmad Starks absent, Jerrell Sanders stepped up big with a round-high 40 points.

The Panthers enter this one on the back of an upset 72-58 success at Woodville. Eian Davis had a quieter night than Round 2 with 22 points, but got a lot more support this time.

The Flames swept the Panthers 3-0 last season.

Forestville Eagles (3-0) v Central District Lions (0-3)

The Eagles will put their unbeaten record on the line, when the Lions make their way to Wayville.
