Warriors climb to 6th after 8-point win over Lions

After a slow start, the Warriors came alive to spark a 14-4 run midway through the first quarter.

Katherine Perkas stepped up for the Warriors as she converted field goals and free throws to give Woodville a 25-19 lead at the first break.

Some average free throw shooting from the Lions Tamika Dukes also helped with the late dominance of the Warriors.

An early three-pointer from Central’s star player of the night, Demi Skinner, ignited the Lions for the second quarter as they managed to bring the margin back to just 3 points at the half.

Skinner managed to score 20 points for the night to go along with six rebounds and an assist.

As the third quarter began Dukes was out to amend her free throws, and soundly managed to do so as she completed the game with 13 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists for a double-double.

Perkas continued to dominate while Woodville’s Jasmin Howe turned on the after burners in the quarter as she only played half the time but still managed to contribute in every aspect.

Howe ended the night with 17 points, four rebounds and two steals.

The third quarter finished much like the first with Woodville taking most of the points and heading into the fourth with an eight-point lead.

The final quarter of the game stagnated somewhat for both teams as they managed to score just 22 points between them (11 points each).

Perkas flirted with danger as she was almost fouled out, collecting five fouls for the game including three in the final term.

The game always looked to be in Woodvilles favour as the Lions just couldn’t manage to claw their way back into the game.
