Season Preview - Central Districts Women

The gist: After two fairytale seasons, it is once again back to square one for the Central District Lions, with many key players going their own ways.

The stat: The Lions have been eliminated by Forestville in each of the past two post-seasons.

The star: Former college baller Tamika Dukes will be the centre of attention for opposing defences, now that the likes of Jess Mahony have moved on.

The x-factor: Former state represent Lucy Osborn joins the team from Tasmania. At 190 cm, she may help  with some interior defence.

The glass half-full: Young players will have a shot to prove their worth.

The glass half-empty: To say replacing Mahony and Desinta Cummins will not be easy is an understatement.

The verdict: The Lions should have enough to avoid a sixth wooden spoon in eight seasons, but are likely to fall short of the finals race.

Predicted finish: Outside the five
