This weekend pits the two top teams in the Central ABL Men's Conference. The Flames and Eagles share a 6-1 record and, along with North Adelaide, have set the pace in the first half of the Season.

Forestville have recruited well in the off-season, picking up 36er development player Brad Gerlach to partner 36er Matt Sutton to form the most highly-credentialed back court in the competition. Add to that shooting ace Brad Sullivan and former Flame and Woollacott medallist Scott Arnold and you have yourself a formidable guard rotation. Norwood guards Todd Matthews, Christian Bell, Andrew Webber and Daniel Webber will have their hands full.

Ex-Cairns Taipan forward Kane Oakley has been red-hot recently, his last outing producing a 46-point belting on Woodville, and frontcourt partner Peter Hoban is touted as an NBL player next season. Both have been torching opponents all season, including a combined 56 points, 35 rebounds in a 40-point pounding of Sturt. Eagles captain Doug McDonald-Taylor cements an intimidating forward rotation which stands to get stronger with the imminent inclusion of Pero Vasiljevic. Their matchup with Norwood’s Power Trio of Dan Thompson, David Cooper and Keith Krause will be a treat for basketball lovers.

Saturday night also sees the return of Norwood’s Scott Lampshire from groin injury. The energetic small forward was a standout in the pre-season, and he will be eagre to regain that form in the march towards the finals. Both teams have a number of offensive weapons, and take great pride in their defensive games. An intriguing battle of guile and talent looms in what is undoubtedly the match of the round.
