Bearcats Women Lose At Home
West Adelaide Bearcats (52) lost to North Adelaide Rockets (76)
The North Adelaide Rockets pushed the Bearcats Women out of the top five when they beat them by 24 points at Port Adelaide on Saturday night.
The first quarter was fairly even with both teams trading goals and the Bearcats out in front by 1 point at the first break. The Bearcats ran in to shooting problems in the second quarter sinking just 2 of their 11 attempts allowing the Rockets to streak ahead by 8 points at half time.
The Rockets piled on the pressure more than doubling West's score in the third quarter 20 points to 9 for the period. West fought hard in the fourth but the gap was too wide and North Adelaide walk away with a comforatble win.
North Adelaide's Jo Hill dominated the court at both ends with 22 points and 14 rebounds but it was her efforts at the defensive end that opened up the game for the Rockets. She pulled down 11 of her teams' 29 defensive rebounds. Jamie Lee Peris also continued to shine for North with 13 points and 8 rebounds.
West Adelaide shared the load across their roster with Anna Carbo scoring 12 points, Sky Lagenbrinck and Kate Shierlaw on 11 and Stana Zecevic on 10.
