Forestville Eagles v Woodville Warriors, Sat, June 5th, 6.30pm at Wayville
With the Forestville Eagles holding down 2nd place on the premiership table they were expected to be comfortable winners over the 9th placed Warriors but in this match that proved not to be the case. The Eagles win was set up in the first half when they were able to establish a 10 point buffer at halftime 29 – 19 in a low scoring contest. Forestville's Mia Newley and Jamie Lee Bow were the major contributors in establishing the lead in the first half. In the second half, Woodville's Katherine Perkas, Ingrid Richards and April Brown got amongst scorers, resulting in their team mounting a run to twice level the scores. On the last occasion only 2.51 remained with either side capable of winning. In the final few of minutes of play Alex Duncan, Jess Mahony and Mia Newley all scored to establish a mini break 56 – 51 with only 45 seconds left. Perkas then trimmed the margin to just 3 points but foul shots from Newley and Jess Fergus as time ran down saw the home side claim victory.

West Adelaide Bearcats v Eastern Mavericks, Sat, June 5th, 6.30pm at Port Adelaide
For the second time this season, the West Adelaide Bearcats escaped with victory in overtime against the Eastern Mavericks, 100 – 91. When the two sides met in the first match of the season, the Bearcats secured victory in the first period of overtime 92 – 88. Eastern led for the majority of the first half but at halftime only 1 point separated the sides, Eastern up 41 – 40. The same margin applied at the end of the 3rd period with both teams recording 20 points for the period, setting up a titanic struggle in the last to achieve victory. West broke away in the first minutes of the last quarter and at one stage had the margin out to 7 points. Both sides traded baskets for the remainder of the quarter but as the game was about to finish, Eastern's Deb Wilcox tied the scores 73 – 73 to force overtime. In the first period of overtime, West again established a break with baskets to Nikita –Lee Martin, Trudy Holland and Ashlea Vordermaier. Eastern relied on 3 pointers from Lauren Wright and a half court prayer on the buzzer from Jamie Fricker to again level the scores.  In the second period of overtime, the Bearcats had too many scoring options with Holland and Martin both knocking down 3s to end the Mavericks' chance of victory.

North Adelaide Rockets v Southern Tigers, Sat, June 5th, 6.30pm at Hillcrest
The Southern Tigers, under the direction of Coach Willie Jennette, continue on their winning way and have now recorded four wins in succession, three against sides that were above them on the premiership table. The first quarter was an even affair with the Rockets holding a slight ascendancy for most of the period, until a basket by Madeline Cunningham late in the quarter edged the Tigers in front for the first time, with scores back level at ¼ time, 21 – 21. In the second quarter, Southern were able to creep away, with Stephanie Gates having a productive scoring period. North had a poor scoring quarter in the third which cost it any chance of claiming victory when it was outgunned 20 – 8. This was the fourth time this season that North has produced a low score in one ¼ of basketball - when it happened against Forestville (5 points), West Adelaide (6 points) and Sturt (4 points) it cost them dearly losing all 3 matches. Late in the 3rd the margin had blown out to 19 points with Robyn Jennings, Ashleigh Spencer and Gilly Hendrie contributing. North closed the gap in the last but could not seriously mount a challenge, the Tigers always appearing in control. Southern's victory moves them up to 5th place at the expense of the Rockets.
