Rockets Women Continue 2012 Form

North has continued their strong form from 2012 with a 21-point victory over the South Adelaide Panthers at Marion Stadium last night.

North were in control from the beginning, taking strong rebounds and using their height inside to their advantage, while the Panthers wasted good opportunities under pressure.

The Rockets, Jamie-Lee Peris, dominated inside, finishing the game with 10 rebounds and a game high 29 points to her name.

At the beginning of the second South were able to claw their way back into the game with some strong defensive work by Danielle Greaves and sharp shooting by Teresa Kinross.

Although North maintained the lead, rebounding South scored on the buzzer to come within four points of the opposition at the half-time break.

Peris continued her charge into the third quarter, this inside presence seeming to be the commanding difference between the two sides.

A mid-quarter run by the Rockets pushed out the lead to 16-points as the Panthers struggled to find an answer despite good efforts again by Greaves, Kinross and Jamie-Lee Bow.

South entered the fourth with 14-points to make up and they started solidly with good positioning by Kinross allowing good shooting options for both herself and her teammates.

However, some beautiful 3-point shooting by Shannon McKay and Tahnee Mansfield pushed out North’s lead again by mid quarter, with Peris continuing to shine with her work in the paint.

South fought hard to regain some run but in the end they were simply outclassed inside by the Rockets, who look like they will become a serious threat again this season with star Jo Hill still to come back into the side.

North Adelaide Rockets 83 (Jamie-Lee Peris 29, Shannon McKay 13, Rebekah Hatchard 10)
South Adelaide Panthers 62 (Teresa Kinross 19, Dana Rommel 14, Jamie-Lee Bow 10)
