Forestville Too Good with a Strong Win Over the Bearcats

The Forestville Eagles were the stronger team on court as they won by 25 points over the West Adelaide Bearcats at Wayville.

The game was close early until the Eagles managed to take a lead into quarter time, which they held for the rest of the game.

Despite the Eagles’ dominance, the Bearcats improved in the second half, particularly during the third quarter as they outscored Forestville 13 points to 12. Fortunately for the Eagles, a strong first half and big lead resulted in their win.

Jess Fergus was excellent for the Eagles with a game high of 20 points along with five rebounds and five steals. She was also very accurate from the charity stripe, converting nine from ten opportunities.

West Adelaide’s Alice Gee was their highest scorer with 11 points, including three from downtown and three assists. Gee’s teammate Alana Nairn was very strong with 10 points, eight rebounds, two steals and an assist. Gee and Nairn were strong in the third quarter when the Bearcats were playing at their best.

Alex Duncan was very strong for Forestville, with 15 points, six rebounds, three steals and two assists. Danielle Angley also played well for the Eagles, scoring seven points and five assists.

Just before the end of the third quarter, Forestville’s Hannah Robinson coped a nasty knock to the jaw but she managed to keep her composure to successfully convert her first free throw. From just seven and a half minutes of play, Robinson had eight points and a rebound and thankfully looked fine after the game despite the sore jaw.

The win was Forestville’s seventh for the season, with a total of 3 wins at home. The Eagles were just too strong for West Adelaide and were 25 point winners.

Forestville Eagles 68 (Jess Fergus 20, Alexandra Duncan 15, Hannah Robinson 8)
West Adelaide Bearcats 43 (Alice Gee 11, Alana Nairn 10, Kate Shierlaw 9)
