2012 Central ABL Schedule Released

Basketball SA is pleased to announce the release of the schedule for the 2012 Central ABL season.

The season tips off on the weekend of March 31/April 1, with four men’s and women’s double headers on the Saturday and one on the Sunday. The highlight of round 1 is the Sturt v West Adelaide matchup at Pasadena. In finals action last year at Pasadena, West were victors over Sturt in a men’s semi final and a women’s qualifying final, and these results will no doubt be fresh in the minds of both clubs.

Woodville will play at home in round 1, taking on South Adelaide at St. Clair on Saturday March 31.Reigning men’s and women’s champions Forestville will head up the freeway to Mount Barker to take on Eastern, while runner’s up Norwood will host Central Districts at Mars.  Southern and North Adelaide will feature in a standalone game at Morphett Vale on the afternoon of Sunday April 1.

As in previous years, the season will involve 18 minor rounds, with the top 5 men’s and women’s teams qualifying for finals. The majority of games have been scheduled on Saturday nights, with Saturday/Sunday double rounds on April 28/29 and June 23/24.

The now traditional rivalry rounds will be played on April 14 and June 23. Men’s rivalry games were tight in 2011, with 1-1 splits in four of the five matchups, while in women’s games, the South Adelaide v Southern series was the only one in which results were split.

The season culminates with Grand Finals at the Adelaide Arena on Saturday September 1.
