Women's Reviews - Round 4

Jodie Barratt

Sturt Sabres 84 (C. Nixon 15,A. Marino 13, J. McPhail 12)
Eastern Maverick 59 (A. Williams 18, T. Madgen 12, D. Wilcox 11)

Sturt did to Eastern what Eastern did to Woodville, with a 24-5 first quarter. The Sabres extended their lead by a further 9 points in the second quarter, and Eastern were unable to make any dent in it in the second half. Hannah Bowley had 10 rebounds to go with her 12 points, and Amanda Williams had 5 assists for Eastern.

South Adelaide Panthers 80 (K. Truslove 16, J. Browne 15, J. Carberry 11)
Woodville Warriors 56 (J. Barratt 14, V. Michael 11, B. Sidebottom 7)

South continued its unbeaten run, outscoring Woodville 19-8 in the first quarter and 29-16 in the second. Jodie Barrett and Lyndell Kwiatkowski competed well on the boards against Kerrin Truslove and Jenine Browne, but South's defensive pressure kept the Warriors to 0 for 12 from the three point line, many of which were forced late in the offence.

West Adelaide Bearcats 85 (L. King 17, J. Mahoney 13, C. Smith 12)
Norwood Flames 46 (N. Romeo 9, L. Scaglia 9, E. Fryters 8)

Norwood's full court pressure rattled West and forced a number of early turnovers in the backcourt, but the Bearcats recovered by pounding the ball inside to Lightning forwards Lauren King and Cherie Smith, both of whom shot 6 from 11 for the game. Lisa Scaglia had an impact in her first game back, but West were too strong at all positions.

Forestville Eagles 84 (D. Ranford 29, K. Malpass 20, J. Fergus 9)
North Adelaide Rockets 76 (E. Lorenzini 23, J. Peris 12, J. Piwanski 10)

Undefeated at home, North started on the back foot, with Dee Ranford scoring 10 points in the first quarter, and Kate Malpass also effective. Forestville led by 11 points at quarter time, and the lead didn't dip below 7 for the rest of the game. Tania Dhu contributed 10 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists, and Erin Lorenzini had 8 rebounds to go with her 23 points, but North never recovered from a slow start.
