Eagles Dominate Panthers

South Adelaide is yet to pick up a win this season after a 24 point loss to a strong Forestville line up.

The Eagles started the game well but some shots late in the first quarter from the Panthers brought the margin back into just six points. During the second and third quarters, the Eagles started push out their lead, out-scoring the Panthers 36 to 16.

South Adelaide had a better last quarter, out-scoring Forestville by two points. Despite a good quarter, the lead was too great to overcome, with the final margin at 24 points.

A similar last quarter fade out happened to the Eagles the week before against the Central District Lions. On both occasions, establishing strong leads early in the game had saved them from losing the match.

Sarah Petrie was the highest scorer of the game, with 12 points for the Eagles, and also had three rebounds. After Petrie on 12, Forestville had three women all on 11 points, including Jess Fergus, Meg Kermond and Mia Newley.

Fergus played another strong game, with a total of 37 and a half minutes on court. Along with her 11 points, she had eight rebounds, three steals and an assist. Kermond had six rebounds and two steals to go with her 11 points.

Newley was a big inclusion into the Forestville line up and she had a big impact with 12 rebounds, five assists and a steal.

Teresa Kinross and Hajnal Nagy were the highest scorers for the Panthers, with eight points each. Kinross had seven rebounds, three assists and a steal, while Nagy had six rebounds and two steals.

Lauren Gibbons had a game high of five steals, along with three rebounds, an assist and five points.

The win has moved the Eagles up into third spot, like Forestville’s Mens team. Unfortunately for the Panthers, they remain in tenth position, yet score a win this season.

Forestville Eagles 64 (Sarah Petrie 12, Jess Fergus 11, Meg Kermond 11, Mia Newley 11)
South Adelaide Panthers 40 (Teresa Kinross 8, Hajnal Nagy 8, Tayla Corrigan 7)
