Webber and Ng named League's Best
The 2009 Halls and Woollacott medals for the best and fairest players in the Central ABL Women's and Men's competition, have been won by South's Kerrin Webber and Sturt's Darren Ng.
Webber polled 36 votes, just edging out 2007 winner Sam Woosnam by 2 votes. Webber had 9 first preferences, including a stretch from round 6 to 14 in which she polled 3 votes in 8 of 9 possible games.
Ng polled 32 votes, 6 more than West's point guard Ryan Kersten. The is the second time that Ng has won this award, having previously won in 2006.
Woosnam still left the night as a winner, collecting the award for coach of the year in the women's league. Rupert Sapwell, heading into his second consecutive Grand Final, won the equivalent award for the men's league.
Southern's Stephanie Gates won the Merv Harris award for the highest female vote poller under the age of 21. Stephanie moved to Adelaide from Mildura last year, and polled 18 votes in the Halls count, ranking her 8th overall.
Jacob Templeton won the Frank Angove medal for the highest male vote poller under the age of 21. Jacob left last week for the US to start a stint at a junior college in Iowa, so Central Districts coach Scot Whitmore accepted the award on his behalf.
