Season Preview - Norwood Women

The gist: The Flames have a largely similar team to the one that took home the 2012 title and came ever-so-close in 2011. They will be hoping complacency does not dismantle their ultra-successful game plan of the past two seasons.

The stat:The Flames’ premiership last season was their first since 2000. They also were crowned champions in 1999 and 1997.

The star: Jess Foley has been a CABL All Star Five member in four of her six seasons in the league. She has career averages of 19.5 ppg, 7.7 rpg and 3.4 apg.

The x-factor: Rebecca Duke has not played for the Flames since the 2010 season. She has never averaged less than 11.7 ppg, but will she be able to have the same impact this year after a long absence?

The glass half-full: The Flames have retained almost all their core group, including Foley, Grand Final MVP Amy Lewis, Kelsey Ireland, Jordan Walker-Roberts and Cara Boothey. This stability within such a successful group is a daunting sight for opposition teams.

The glass half-empty:At 193cm, the now-departed Rachel Herrick was a presence at centre. With no like-for-like replacement acquired, there is one hole that opposition offences could exploit.
