Erik Burdon wins Woollacott Medal

The 2008 Woollacott medal for the best and fairest player in the Central ABL Men's competition, has been won by North Adelaide's Erik Burdon.

Burdon polled 29 votes, just pipping Norwood point guard Todd Matthews on 27. The award makes it a back-to-back for the Rockets, with Dusty Rychart winning the award in 2007.

Burdon's 29 votes included six first preferences, three second preferences and five first preferences. Heading into round 16, Matthews led Burdon by 4 votes, but Burdon polled 3 votes in each of round 16 and 17, and maintained a two vote lead after the final minor round.

Southern's Phil Brown won the Frank Angove medal for the highest vote poller under the age of 21.
