Warriors defeat Rockets

The Woodville Warriors have confirmed their 2nd place status on the ladder with a 14-point win over the North Adelaide Rockets.

Woodville have broken an 11 run drought of losses to the visitors at home dating all the way back to April 2008.

The Rockets started strong with some solid field goals dropping in.

Warriors on the other hand were struggling to get going as North Adelaide controlled the paint at both ends of the court.

After a flurry of 3-point attempts Woodville relied on their free throw shooting to keep them in the game.

The Warriors then went on an 8-0 run to end the first quarter with the score at 18-17 Rockets way.

Woodville superstar Darren Ng dominated the night collecting a huge 37 points including seven 3-pointers and seven assists.

Ng hit several big 3’s in the second quarter to give the Warriors a 38-37 lead at the half.

Rockets big man Pero Vasiljevic was his usual self, collecting 25 points and 18 assists as North Adelaide started the third quarter strong.

Warrior’s player Andrew Wyatt managed to be second highest scorer for the team with 14 points however his poor shooting (four from 22) kept the Rockets alive.

Midway through the third quarter the game was interrupted by some problems with the scoreboard and shot clock but the game went on with the scores tied leading into the fourth.

With the first six minutes proving very even, the Warriors stepped up in the final minutes of the game going on a 12-2 run.

Ng shot four clutch free-throws to confirm the win as Woodville now sit equal first with the Bearcats after their loss to the Southern Tigers.

North Adelaide have dropped down to fifth thanks to Sturt’s comfortable win over the South Adelaide Panthers.
