Cayla Francis wins Halls medal

The 2008 Halls medal for the best and fairest player in the Central ABL Women's competition, has been won by Eastern's Cayla Francis.

Cayla won the award comfortably with 38 votes, 9 clear of Forestville's Mia Newley on 29. Francis is the first Halls medallist from Eastern, and she joins Jacob Holmes (2004) as Maverick winners of the league's highest honours.

Francis received ten first preference votes, two 2nd preferences and four third. She was also the winner of the Merv Harris award, as the highest vote-poller under the age of 21.
