South Adelaide saw off one of its main rivals in the race for the finals with an 81-79 win against Woodville on Saturday night.

With South (7-4) in fourth and Woodville now two wins behind in sixth (5-6) along with Sturt, the thrilling win gives the Panthers every chance of making the finals for the first time since 1999.

The Panthers survived the last quarter jitters, where they hit just three of 10 foulshots in the final minute, to record the win only when a Woodville three-pointer missed on the siren.
