Central Districts withstood a desperate final quarter surge from the Southern Tigers on Saturday night to escape with a 98-89 win at Morphett Vale.

Having controlled the game for most of the night, the Lions coughed up an 85-62 lead with seven minutes left to allow a Shane Boal-inspired Southern to get within five points inside the last three minutes.

Boal hit three consecutive three-pointers as the Tigers went on a 17-0 run. Phil Brown chipped in nine final quarter points for the Tigers but it was Central that was able to regain control and close out the game.
