Lions are hit heavy by powerful Rockets

CENTRAL Districts remains cemented to the bottom of the ladder after a heavy 103-57 home loss to North Adelaide on Saturday night.

The Rockets surged away to a big lead at Starplex and were never headed as they kept pressure on ladder-leading Southern Tigers.

North were up 54-25 at half-time and extended its lead with a 36-19 third period before the Lions showed some fight in the last.

The Rockets were too clean and too slick for Centrals, converting at 49 per cent from the field.

At times the Lions were their own worst enemy, committing 32 turnovers which North transitioned into 36 points.

Ultimately a gulf in class and depth was the biggest difference.

The Rockets’ bench added 51 points to Central’s 20.

Jo Hill led the way for North with a team-high 15 points and seven rebounds.

Sophie Byrne added 14 points and four starters reached double figures

Alisha Carlin’s 16 points were best for the Lions.
