Round 15 Preview - MEN

Norwood Flames (11-3, 2nd) v Central District Lions (3-11, 9th)

The Flames and Lions will be going after back-to-back wins when they face off at Mars.

After going down to Forestville in Round 13, the Flames bounced back with an 84-72 road win against North last week. With Woodville losing to Sturt, the Flames are second again.

Last round’s 75-62 victory against Eastern was the Lions’ first triumph since Round 5. They remain in ninth position but are now in a good position to avoid the wooden spoon. Last time they met, the Flames thrashed the Lions 106-72.

Woodville Warriors (10-4, 3rd) v West Adelaide Bearcats (8-6, 5th)

In the match of the round, the Bearcats will be looking to build on their recent resurgence when they visit the Warriors at St Clair.

Including last week’s 95-77 away victory against South, the Bearcats have won their last five games rising to fifth on the ladder in the process.

Contrastingly, the Warriors fell a spot on the ladder after going down 74-93 to Sturt. The Bearcats beat the Sabres by 15 the previous week.

Last time they met the Warriors defeated the Bearcats 86-73.

Sturt Sabres (9-5, 4th) v Eastern Mavericks (1-13, 10th)

The Sabres have the opportunity to battle a cellar-dweller this week with the bottom-placed Mavericks taking a trip to Pasadena.

The Sabres have played a finals challenger in each of their last three games. Their success against Woodville allowed them to finish that stint at 2-1 and maintain a one game advantage in fourth position.

The Mavericks are two games clear at the foot of the table following their loss to Centrals.

Last time they met, the Sabres accounted for the Mavericks 85-65.

Forestville Eagles (8-6, 6th) v North Adelaide Rockets (4-10, 7th)

The Eagles cannot afford another home loss in their quest for a finals spot when they welcome the Rockets to Wayville.

Last week, the Eagles were trounced by Southern 69-113 and as a result they slipped out of the top five on percentage.

The Rockets are just 1-10 in their last 11 games. Their most recent setback came at the hands of Norwood.

Last time they met, the Eagles thumped the Rockets 94-62.

Southern Tigers (13-1, 1st) v South Adelaide Panthers (3-11, 8th)

The Panthers will undertake the toughest test in state basketball this week when they head further South to battle the Tigers.

The Tigers have won 13 of their 14 games after demolishing Forestville last round. They sit two games clear at the top of the ladder.

After a rare win against North in Round 13, the Panthers returned to the losers’ list last week going down to West.

Last time they met, the Tigers crushed the Panthers 108-71.
