Firsts and Thirds

Top position on the Central ABL premiership table is on the line in the men's game between Norwood and North at Mars on Saturday night.

If Norwood win, the Flames maintain first place, relegate North to third, and achieve a psychological advantage at the season half-way point. If North win, and Forestville defeat Southern at the Cage (not a given), this would create a three-way tie for first, befitting the strength of these three teams over the first half of the season.

Forestville's Kane Oakley put in the individual performance of the season last week, scoring 50 points and snatching 25 rebounds, to pick up the most obvious player-of-the-week award for the men. For the women, West Adelaide's Lauren King has put in a number of good performances recently, but her 27 points in the absence of Cherie Smith, Sam Woosnam, Kate Jenner and Jess Mahoney was enough to earn her player-of-the-week honours.
