Men's Reviews - Round 5

Central Districts Lions 96 (M. Atkins 18, J. Graves 17, C. Clausen 16)
Eastern Mavericks 83 (S. Breheny 23, J. Watson 23, B. Dearman 12)

There was bit of extra feeling in this game, with Jye Watson and Phil Modra returning to Starplex for the first time since leaving the Lions. This was a tough battle until the last five minutes, when Centrals' Jarrod Graves and Matt Atkins produced an 11-0 run to seal the game.

Norwood Flames 92 (K. Krause 17, A. Webber, D. Cooper 15)
Southern Tigers 69 (D. Bowley 12, D. Lalic 11, B. Gerlach 10)

Southern was the next in a potentially long line of teams to experience Norwood's wrath. David Cooper was at his intimidating best with 10 blocks, and although the Tigers did exceptionally well to outrebound the Flames, Norwood's size, even without Dan Thompson, was always going to be a factor.

West Adelaide Bearcats 88 (A. Spadavecchia 30, B. Truslove 17, R. Craddock 14)
South Adelaide Panthers 61 (D. Scanlon 13, S. Ahmatt 11, T. McKenzie 9)

A 31-14 first quarter from West was the difference in this game, and West extended this lead by the end of the game. Anthony Spadavecchia was again exceptional, producing the highest score of the round. South benefitted from the return of Damian Scanlon and the introduction of Shane Ahmatt, but will need a few games with a consistent lineup to make progress.

North Adelaide Rockets 120 (N. Hambour 26, E. Burdon 19, M. Zorich 19)
Woodville Warriors 89 (G. Birmingham 19, P. Steele 16, L. Mapunda 13)

Despite the absence of Ben Groves, Dusty Rychart and Dallas Quigley, North amassed 64 points by half time to set up a comfortable victory. Nick Hambour made the most of his extra court time, with 14 rebounds, and Gary Birmingham carried the scoring load for Woodville after Cam Wilson was injured two minutes into the game.

Forestville Eagles 87 (B. Sullivan 22, S. Arnold 14, D. McDonald-Taylor 11)
Sturt Sabres 83 (M. Ng 30, M. Paget 14, N. Vaughan 12)

Forestville limped across the line against a team that was missing Jordan Dodman, Darren Ng and coach Liam Flynn. Marcus Ng continued his good shooting form, and Mark Paget and Nathan Vaughan made the most of their extended opportunities. Kane Oakley, the league's most prolific rebounder, had 19 in this game.
