Flames Scorch Lions at MARS

Norwood Flames (74) defeated Central Districts Lions (51)

The Flames have moved up to the second rung of the ladder after beating the Lions by 23 points at MARS on the weekend.

It was a tough defensive contest supressing the score line for both sides for much of the match. Norwood had the advantage in turnovers with the lions coughing up 20 compared to 6 for the Flames. Norwood managed to convert turnovers to 23 points whereas the Lions made no points of turnovers. Central Districts were dominant under the post with leading the game in rebounds and blocks but the Flames control of the court at both ends allowed them to chip away and build their lead quarter on quarter.

Paul Joyce scored a double-double with 11 rebounds and 11 points as did teammate Daniel Carlin who scored 14 points and 10 rebounds. Norwood's Matthew Lycett top scored for the night with 20 points while Andrew Webber led the game in assists with 7.
