Woodville Warriors (69) lost to Forestville Eagles (84)

The Forestville Eagles’ men steadily pulled away from the Woodville Warriors as they won by 15 points at St Clair on Saturday night.
 
Adam Gibson steered his team to victory with a 16 point, 8 assist, 4 rebound performance. Brad Haydon also returned for the Eagles and was one of three Eagles to score 15 points.
 
Forestville broke the half-time tie and gradually increased their lead in the second half as Woodville battled hard to not let the game slip away. A few missed baskets for the Warriors hurt their chances of mounting a comeback in the closing minutes.
 
Alex Starling's double-double of 25 points and 10 rebounds led the Warriors as he and Luke Stanbridge (11 points) cut the lead down to 6 numerous times in the fourth. But Forestville had answers late in the game, Gibson's pin-point passing set up easy buckets for his team-mates as five Eagles finished with double digit scores.
 
Brad Gerlach (15 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists), Trent Fildes (15 points) and Jake Rios (14 points, 6 rebounds) helped Forestville to the victory with solid contributions.
 
The stat sheet looked almost identical for both teams at half-time, an intense battle between both teams didn't provide an advantage to either side.
 
The Eagles turned up the effort on defence in the second half as it stifled the Warriors attack and allowed the visitors to get out and run in transition and build a buffer to secure the win.
