Eagles Women Demolish the Lions
Forestville Eagles (93) defeated Central District Lions (33)
The Forestville Eagles women have collected a win after demolishing the Central Districts Lions by a huge 60 points at Wayville on Saturday night.
After just five minutes of play, the Eagles already had 17 points and added another five to take a 15 point lead into quarter time. The Eagles continued to build on their lead, while the Lions struggled. The margin was 24 points at half time and then 45 points at the last break.
Turnovers was where the Lions had trouble, recording 32 to the Eagles’ 15. Forestville made the most of those mistakes, scoring 34 points from turnovers. The Eagles also recorded 19 steals, whereas the Lions only had one, courtesy of Amy Onaca.
For the Eagles, Carla Borrego Williams was the star. She recorded 17 points, 12 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 assists from just 20 minutes of game time.
Jess Fergus closely followed Borrego Williams with 16 points. Fergus also recorded 4 steals, 3 rebounds and 3 assists. Both Tara Robinson and Sarah Petrie were influential under the basket with 8 and 7 rebounds respectively. Jade Johnson and Samantha Defranceso also played a part in the team effort with 13 and 12 points each.
For the Lions, Hannah Dixon and Aimee Herriman both recorded 7 points, while Coby Rodda had 5. Dixon also had 5 rebounds and an assist. Caitlin Arnold collected 6 rebounds and 2 assists.
