Eastern Mavericks (67) lost to Woodville Warriors (77)

The Eastern Mavericks put up a good fight in front of their home crowd but the Woodville Warriors strong start and finish allowed them to walk away with a 10 point win in the end.

The Warriors tried to stamp their authority on the first quarter early but the Mavs held their own and kept the margin to a manageable 7 points at the first break.

The Mavericks' Emma Hooley pushed hard at the basket in the second quarter leveling the scores before the Warriors pushed back and Kim Porplycia's return to the court helped them regain the advantage. The Warriors went into the the half time break 4 points in front and needing some oomph to seal the deal in the second half. 

Although Eastern kept the pressure up and came within 2 points in the final quarter, the Warriors were able to accelerate when they needed it and shake loose from a congested key way when they needed to.

In the end, it was ball handling that made the difference with Eastern giving up 26 turnovers while the Warriors got away with 15 steals converting them into 19 points off turnovers compared to 6 for the Mavs. 

Emma Hooley had a great night for Eastern. She had a double double with 15 points and 18 rebounds. Shannon Tarran also had a double double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Meanwhile for the Warriors, Carmen Reynolds led the game with 23 points, she also had 12 rebounds. Kym Porplycia made an impact - she led her team in assists and steals with 4 apiece and pulled down 10 rebounds.
