Forestville Eagles (72) lost to Southern Tigers (73)
The Southern Tigers have pinched a one point away victory over the Forestville Eagles at Wayville on Saturday night. The Tigers started strongly and took an 11 point lead into the halftime break after an impressive second quarter. Forestville couldn’t keep up with the Tigers after a slow start to the game.
The Eagles came out firing in the second half and managed to take the lead at three quarter time but they couldn’t steal the win in a tightly contested final quarter.
Codey Ellison was outstanding for the Tigers, with 18 points to his name as well as nine rebounds. Timothy Smyth wasn’t far behind with 12 points, five rebounds and four assists.
Jake Rios was the highest scorer for the Eagles with 19 points. Brad Gerlach was one of the Eagles’ best with 11 points, ten rebounds, seven assists and six steals from a full game on court. Eagles’ playmaker Trent Fildes fouled out late in the final quarter, while the Tigers lost both Paul Carman and Michael Florance in the last quarter to fouls also.
During the second half the Eagles’ played youngster Hayden Kanisauskas, who was influential in just 14 minutes of game time. Kanisauskas recorded six points, three rebounds and an assist.
