Norwood Men Get Up Over Lions

Central Districts Lions (79) lost to Norwood Flames (96)

The Norwood Flames staked their claim on this game early in the piece dominating the first quarter 31 - 22 at the first break. However the Lions fought back in the second quarter with a solid whole court effort managing to level the scores and grapple a shaky one point lead for a moment before slipping back to a slim two point margin at the half time break.

That was the last time that Centrals held the lead for the match. A physical third quarter saw both sides giving up too many free throws while Norwood's Matthew Lycett (the nights top scorer and rebounder) came alive putting up a fierce fight on the boards. Lycett scored a double-double with 30 points and 10 rebounds.

The Flames defence was too strong overall for the Lions who were forced out of the key and into 3 point territory but only 8 from 24 attempts were good for the home team. The Lions also coughed up 16 turnovers for the night which the Flames converted into 16 points. Conversely nimble Norwood managed to score 50 points in the paint to the Lions 28 seemingly too slippery and focused for the Lions D.
