Eagles Show Class in Big Win Over the Tigers

Forestville were too strong for the Southern Tigers in a comprehensive 35 point win at home.

The Eagles got off to a quick start, outscoring the Tigers by 12 points in the first quarter. Forestville also dominated in rebounds (18-9), steals (3-1) and assists (5-0). Forestville applied the pressure on the Tigers, resulting in the Tigers giving up double the number of Forestville’s turnovers.

Forestville backed up the strong first quarter with solid second, pushing their lead out to 21 points. The Tigers showed some improvement on the first quarter, scoring double than what they did in the first.

The Tigers then carried this momentum into the third quarter, outscoring the Eagles by three points (17-14). They also started to match Forestville in the key statistical areas that the Eagles dominated in during the first quarter.

Despite the Tigers efforts in the third, the Eagles finished the game excellently, taking the final margin to 35 points after a 28 point quarter.

Jess Fergus had a great game and finished with 19 points, five assists and three rebounds. During the third quarter, she scored her 200th point for the season and her 2000th career point. She was on fire in the last quarter, scoring nine points in only six minutes of game time.

Using her height and athleticism, Olivia Thompson had ten rebounds and was strong offensively and defensively. She also scored 13 points and had two steals and an assist. Like Thompson, Tara Robinson had ten rebounds, to go with nine points, three steals and two assists.

Haley Bunce was the highest scorer for the Tigers with 11 points. She also had three rebounds, two assists and a steal. Deanna Troia was the next best with nine points, along with five rebounds and two assists.

Alex Duncan played well for the Eagles, scoring ten points and she also had eight rebounds, two steals and an assist. Megan Kermond finished with 13 points, five rebounds, three steals and two assists.

Stana Zecevic had ten rebounds for the Tigers, while Ashley Biddell had five to go with eight points and a steal.

Despite the efforts of the Tigers, Forestville were just too strong and too hard to beat at home.

Both teams had a very short break between their round 15 and 16 games, with both teams playing on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles faced the Eastern Mavericks, while the Southern Tigers played the North Adelaide Rockets.
