Eagles Men too Good for Panthers

Forestville showed their class against South Adelaide, with a convincing 35 point win at home.

The first quarter was dominated by the Eagles and Adam Gibson, who scored 13 of the team’s 25 points. The Panthers trailed by seven points at the first break. Forestville outscored South Adelaide in the second quarter, 31 to 18 and dominated the rebounds, 14 to five.

The third quarter was another strong quarter for the Eagles, pushing their lead out to 36 points. The final term was more even with the Panthers outscoring Forestville by a point, 21 to 20. During the final quarter, both teams had nine rebounds, which resulted in the close scores.

For the game, Forestville dominated the rebounds (49 to 29), the assists (32 to 17) and the steals (11 to five) yet both teams had 12 turnovers each. Despite making the same numbers of mistakes, the Eagles created more opportunities through rebounds and steals.

Gibson has had a major positive impact on the Eagles and he showed off his skills in front of his new home crowd. He finished with 22 points, nine assists, eight rebounds and two steals. He also played the most game time of any Forestville player, with 33 and a half minutes on court.

Cameron Myles had the greatest game time for the Panthers, on court for 39 and a half minutes, showing his endurance and athleticism. Teammates Shane Boal had 38 and a half minutes game time, while Tom McKenzie had 37 minutes.

Myles finished with eight points, seven assists, six rebounds and two steals. Boal finished with 20 points, five rebounds and an assist. McKenzie had 14 points, a team high of seven rebounds, four assists and a steal.

The highest points scorer for the Eagles was sharp shooter, Jake Rios. He had 24 points along with six rebounds and four assists. Jordan Robertson was the Panthers highest scorer with 21 points. He also finished with three rebounds, two assists and a steal.

Brad Gerlach had another strong game, scoring 15 points, a game high of ten rebounds, six assists and three steals.

The win means that the Eagles remain at third position on the ladder, a game clear of Central Districts and North Adelaide.
