North Adelaide Women Victorious Over Threatening Warriors

The North Adelaide Women came out on top last night in a close battle against a dangerous Warrior outfit.

The Warriors were unlucky last week falling short to the third ranked Mavericks by just four points, so the fifth placed Rockets could not afford to take this game lightly.

Both teams displayed their growing form, the game was a tight tussle from the start with the first quarter evenly matched.

Quick movement of the ball helped both teams to get early scores on the board and it was only a three pointer with seconds to go by Woodville’s Jasmin Howe, which made the difference, putting Woodville in the lead by two points at the first break.

This is how the rest of the match played out, the lead continually changing making for an exciting display with both teams hungry for the win.

North maintained a lot of the play and possession however they could not score consecutively and the Warriors capitalized on this, scoring under the basket and at the foul line.

However, in the second half North were able to take the lead with Jo Hill shining, recording a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds.

Hill’s attack at the basket created not only scoring options for herself but also for her teammates, as she positioned herself in great outlet spots for them to dish to.

In the final quarter Jessica Koch stepped up for her team scoring clutch free throw points to put the Warriors back in the lead by a point with three minutes to go.

Yet North had not given up, fighting back with some great teamwork to regain a four-point lead and all the Warriors could do was foul to send them to the line and gain time.

The tight game showed both teams to be a threat as we come to the pointy end of the Central ABL season.

If games continue in this fashion it is looking like it will be an exciting finish.

Woodville Warriors 64 (Jasmin Howe 17, Jessica Koch 12, Tess Keenan 10, Ashleigh White 10)
North Adelaide Rockets 73 (Jo Hill 21, Rebekah Hatchard 12, Jamie-Lee Peris 11)
