North Adelaide Men Record Third-Straight Win Over Mavericks

North Adelaide Men’s have recorded their third consecutive victory after defeating the win-less Eastern Mavericks by 14-points at Hillcrest last night.

The win provides a momentum boost for the Rockets and has pushed them into fifth position on the premiership ladder.

However, it was slow start from both teams with North heading into the first break only 2 points in the lead after difficulties following through on good scoring opportunities.

Both teams had high turn over rates, the victors finishing with 22 turnovers for the game, so possession changed frequently with majority of play occurring with out a conversion.

Despite these low scoring percentages and turnovers, the Mavericks did put up a good fight, looking to be a threat on many occasions, however they could not maintain their run.

Curtis Scipio lead the Mavericks attack contributing 25 points, his speed and agility in combination with team mate Daniel Leen a great asset to the team.

Yet these efforts were not enough to defeat the Rockets who were too strong inside and had impressive contributions by Luke Pike and Daniel Goodluck.

Multi-tasking coach and player Pero Vasiljevic also had an outstanding game recording a double double with 30 points and 17 rebounds.

However, Vasiljevic did tend to flirt with danger, his passion awarding him two warnings and eventually being fouled off the court.

The win will allow the Rockets to have a shot at a top four position, while the Mavericks continue to search for their first win of the season.

North Adelaide Rockets 88 (Pero Vasiljevic 30, Daniel Goodluck 19, Luke Pike 12)
Eastern Mavericks 74 (Curtis Scipio 25, Daniel Leen 20, Shane Breheny 10)
