Season Preview - South Adelaide Men

The gist: The Panthers finished 2012 with 12 straight losses following a 4-2 start, and with just 11 players on the roster and several key players heading for pastures new, someone will need to step up to stop the bleeding.

The stat: The Panthers have lost three of their last four matches against the Southern Tigers, who have won just five of their other 32 games in the past two seasons.

The star: Following his transfer from Forestville, Jordan Robertson snuck under the radar, averaging 15.3 ppg and 6.7 rpg. There should be more shots for Robertson this season, though he will also get extra defensive attention.

The x-factor: Ben Regester is another ex-Forestville junior now with South. With the ability to fill it up from three, it will be interesting to see if he can have a similar impact to Robertson.

The glass half-full: There will be plenty of opportunities for the Panthers to discover some new stars.

The glass half-empty: The Panthers have lost their top scorer in Damian Scanlon (18.9 ppg), one of their most consistent performers in Patrick Mattson (15.2 ppg, 5.9 rpg), Point Guard Isaiah Omamogho and young gun Kyle Howe-Tipene. Their line-up has been depleted of talent and there are plenty of holes to fill.

The verdict: Things seem to be headed south for South, though at least the same can be said for a number of their rivals.

Predicted finish: Outside the five
