Mahony wins second Halls Medal

The 2012 Halls medal for the best and fairest player in the Central ABL Women's competition, has been won by Central Districts' Jess Mahony.

This makes the second Halls for Mahony, who also won the award while playing with Sturt in 2002.

The Halls medal is determined by 3-2-1 votes from referees through the season. Mahony won the award with 40 votes, ahead of Eastern's Tess Madgen on 39 and Forestville's Olivia Thompson on 35. With one round of first preference votes to count, all three were still a chance to win the medal, but it was Mahony who retained her 1 vote lead after polling three votes in round 18.

Mahony received nine first preference votes, five second preferences and three third.

Madgen won the Most Valuable Player award, which is voted on by Coaches.
