Despite Hill, Southern outshoots Rockets to split the double

North’s women were found wanting and they did not have an answer to the free-scoring Tigers, in a game that lacked high levels of skill and shooting accuracy.

Amongst the disappointment, the stand-out player in the game was perennial Rocket Jo Hill, whose contribution to the game was 24 points with 23 rebounds.  Other than Jo, North’s only other player to get into double figures was Kirsty Williams with 10 points and 6 rebounds.

The Tigers though, were more powerful, despite taking 10 less field goal attempts.  Alex Ciabattoni (silver medallist at the recent Under 18’s) scored 18 points and was helped by Maddie Cunningham (16) and Ashleigh Spencer (13) with 12 rebounds.

In a game where North took a total of 102 shots, and got 34 of them, the Tigers were able to get 38 from 89 shots.

In the end, defensive pressure took it’s toll on North’s ability to get their shots in, and at the end of the day, the game is about the ball in the hoop.
